Seminar on ‘Krushi Maharshi: Pramukh Swami Maharaj’

Under the auspices of the Brahmaswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj Centenary Celebrations and to mark its 75 years, the Bansilal Amritlal Krushi Mahavidyalaya, Anand Krushi University, Anand, in association with AARSH Research Institute, Swaminarayan Akshardham, Gandhinagar, organized a seminar on the topic ‘Krushi Maharshi: Pramukh Swami Maharaj’ at the BACA Auditorium. The seminar highlighted Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s invaluable contributions in the field of agriculture and his colossal efforts in the conservation of water.

The seminar was chaired by Dr. K.B. Kathiriya, Chancellor of Anand Krushi University. The speakers included Prof. Shrutiprakash Swami from AARSH Research Institute, Gandhinagar, and Head of BACA, Dr. M.J. Patel. Special guests included Dr. H.B. Patel, Director of Extension Education Research, Anand Krushi University, and Dr. Gautam Patel, Secretary.

Following inaugural prayers and the traditional lighting of the lamp, a video highlighting Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s exemplary planning, decision-making and foresight in the fields of water conservation and agricultural activities was shown.

In his speech, Prof. Shrutiprakash Swami highlighted Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s keen interest in farming and how he guided farmers about crop selection, effective farming techniques and identification of livestock useful for farming. He also described Swamishri’s efforts during the 1987 drought in Gujarat to set up four cattle camps to care for more than 10,000 animals endangered by the drought. Also highlighted was Swamishri’s support to the Gujarat government to implement the Narmada irrigation project. At the initial stage of the scheme, when there was an obstacle for a loan from the World Bank, he appealed to all to invest in the Narmada Srinidhi Bonds and BAPS Sanstha made the first contribution of Rs. 51 lakh. Swamishri also steered other activities for water conservation like recharging wells and tree planting. In 1999, Swamishri sent BAPS sadhus to Israel to learn scientific farming. As a result, Yagnapurush Vadi in Sarangpur is an ideal model for all. Today, Param Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj, a former student of the BA College of Agriculture in the 1950s, continues to encourage the fields of agriculture and animal husbandry.

The second speaker, Dr. M.J. Patel gave a detailed presentation of the agricultural activities of BAPS Sanstha.

At the end, Bhagwatcharan Swami narrated the ways in which the gurus have blessed this university, and that state and central government officials have applauded and appreciated this work of the Sanstha.

Dr. K.B. Kathiriya also commended Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s efforts in the implementation of the Narmada irrigation project.

Seminar on ‘Animal Welfare by Pramukh Swami Maharaj’

Under the auspices of the centenary celebrations of Brahmaswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj, Kamdhenu University in association with AARSH Research Institute, Gandhinagar, organized a special seminar on the topic ‘Animal Welfare by Pramukh Swami Maharaj’ in the open-air theater of the university, which is a national leader in veterinary and allied sciences. The seminar highlighted the seminal work of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, who championed the welfare of livestock, ensuring appropriate facilities for their care.
The seminar was chaired by Shri N.H. Kelawala, Chancellor of Kamdhenu University, and compered by Dr. J.B Nayak, Associate Professor at the Veterinary College.

Dr. Adarshjivan Swami, author of the biography on the life of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, from BAPS Sarangpur Mandir and Dr. S.K. Bhavsar, Professor and Head of the Veterinary Pharmacology Department were the main speakers at the seminar. Dr. K.B. Kathiriya, Chancellor of Anand Krishi University, also graced the event.

After the traditional lighting of the lamp by senior BAPS swamis, Dr. M.N. Brahmabhatt, Dean of the College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Kamdhenu University, delivered the welcome speech.

In his speech, Dr. S.K. Bhavsar highlighted the contribution of Pramukh Swami Maharaj towards the welfare of animals. A video showcasing Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s exemplary planning, decision making and foresight was also shown.

In his address, Adarshjivan Swami described the many works of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, who not only toiled all his life for the all-round development of society, but also compassionately worked for the well-being of animals. During the 1987 drought in Gujarat, Pramukh Swami Maharaj guided the BAPS Sanstha to set-up four cattle camps to care for more than 10,000 animals endangered by the drought.

Shrutiprakash Swami, Dr. K.B. Kathiriya, Dr. N.H. Kelawala also addressed the seminar. At the end, Bhagwatcharan Swami gave detailed information about the modern animal welfare center operated by the BAPS Sanstha in Khandadhor, Dakor. The state and central government officials have commended this work of the Sanstha.

Over 500 students and staff members of the veterinary college attended this seminar, which was also broadcast live on the university’s website and on the BAPS Sanstha’s Prerna Setu app.
